Management of Productive Waqf in Muhammadiyah and Badan Wakaf Indonesia on Bandung Associated by Islamic Law and Law Number 41 of 2004 about Waqf

Faishal Muhammad Fasya

Waqf is an action of worship by giving some of their property which has benefits voluntarily, on the basis of caring each other and responsibilities as a Muslim, and for the purpose to improve the general welfare. Waqf  could improve the general welfare through the productive wakaf. Based on information from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bandung (Kementerian Agama Kota Bandung), that there has never been a productive waqf in Bandung. This fact is not in accordance with the evidence that we can see in Bandung. For example, Muhammadiyah Hospital is a hospital that built as a real form of productive waqf and managed by Muhammadiyah organization. Indonesian Government is also participate in advancing wakaf  in Indonesia through the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kementerian Agama), but based on UUTW (Undang-Undang Tentang Wakaf) the Government made an organization to handles waqf  in Indonesia. It named Badan Wakaf Indonesia that known as BWI. But BWI has not been well socialized, so that many Indonesians include Islamic organization that do waqf doesn’t know the function of BWI, so this study specifically was researching about the organization of Islamic society Muhamadiyah and Badan Wakaf Indonesia in Bandung.
