Abstract

The poverty rate villagers in West Java province, which is typical to agriculture, relatively more than other provinces in Indonesia. Poverty in rural agricultural households need to be anticipated. Its presence can cause serious macroeconomic problems. Scarcity of agricultural primary commodities may stimulate the economy to import domestic supply shortages, whether for its production of the manufacturing sector, as well as for food security. This research aims to build an economic model of poor peasant households (rumahtangga petani miskin,RTPM), analysing the behavior of consumption, production and their participation in agricultural product markets, and conduct simulations to test models of economic policies in order to reduce poverty of farmers. RTPM economic model displays a replica or abstraction RTPM economic behavior. Where the model is constructed using mathematical programming approach, also known as operations research. Characteristics are non linear model, so it is quite realistic abstracts of more complex phenomenon. The model solution assisted by the General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) softwares. GAMS has the ability to solve non-linear economic model compared with other software. The results capture that, firstly, economic RTPM display rational behavior. Rational behavior in question is that they have economic motives, where the objective is maximizing revenues with the availability of factors of production constraints, limits consumption demand, surplus production that can be marketed and time resources.Second, the understanding of the model solutions capture that there are eight food commodities which extent can not be fulfilled by the actual. These commodities are rice, fish, meat, milk, eggs, vegetables, beans and cooking oil.Meanwhile, from the aspect of production, it appears that production has been studied RTPM optimal, but its magnitude is less than required to meet the minimum income as a source of fulfilment of basic needs. Although, sources of revenue derived from the production of rice and beans, cassava production but also has the potential to be marketed Finally,
