Abstract

Abstract
Pulmonary tuberculosis is second factor as the leading cause of death from infectious disease after human immunodeficiency virus. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis is defined as an infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which affects tissues and organs outside the pulmonary parenchyma. It occurs 25% of all cases of tuberculosis. One of the risk factors of extrapulmonary tuberculosis is a decreased immune status. Decreased nutritional status can affect the immune system that serves as the body's defense against infectious diseases. The purpose of this study was find out the relationship of nutritional status contributes to extrapulmonary tuberculosis in children at the Center for Lung Health Community of Bandung over the period of 2015–2016. This research used analytic observational method with cross sectional study with retrospective approach to find out the relationship of nutritional status with the cases of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. The analysis used chi-quare test. The data on nutritional status of extrapulmonary tuberculosis were taken from secondary data form medical records and 176 samples were obtained. The results showed that there is a relationship of nutritional status of the body with the cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and extrapulmonary tuberculosis in children at the Center for Lung Health Community of Bandung over the period of 2015–2016 (p=0.000).
